I think we all had that feeling when you're the main character of your story, the power and happiness from that feeling are unbelievable, empowering, it is like no matter what happened in the past now it's all gone.
Just watching the night sky on a beautiful summer night, or going on a trip with your best friends, singing and laughing as the problems of this world are suddenly gone, or even riding your skate on a country road while the wind is coming towards you like nature becomes one with you. Listening to music while you are in your parents' car driving as the sun sets down or just going on a walk with your best friend when it's all pitch dark outside, this feeling is unreal, something you can't explain or touch. The strangest thing about it is the fact that it doesn't repeat, it's not following a pattern or a specific experience, it is a spontaneous feeling which you fully realize when it ends. Maybe you've sensed it too, maybe you know what I am talking about, but if you don't I will give you an example.
Have you ever watched "Interstellar" or "Arrival"? If yes, you may probably know the cornfield scene when the dad and his son are following that drone or rocket (idk exactly what that was) and they go in the cornfield while in the background the theme soundtrack of the movie is playing, or in "Arrival" just at the end when the protagonist has a vision of her future life as the music is playing and she speaks about her revelation. Those scenes are so so empowering that you feel them with your whole body, it's so dramatic but at the same time so beautiful. It's above every feeling I have ever felt, it's above anger, happiness, fear, even love. And you wanna know why? Because those moments you are pleased with yourself, those are the moments when you reconnect with yourself. You can't get that feeling from FaceTime, you can't get it from a tv series watched in the comfort of your bed, you have to disconnect from this world of stress and problems and let nature do its job.
The ironic part of this all is that last year was the year when I have sensed this feeling multiple times. It took a whole pandemic for me to disconnect and to try to search for myself just so I could keep going all this to feel it, but it was worth it because now I understand why sometimes life takes its turns. We need to suffer if we want to know what's happiness, we need to be heartbroken to know what loves feels like and we need to disconnect to achieve this empowering feeling. I don't know how it's called, I don't even think it has a name, but all I can hope is that every human being gets the chance to feel it. I can't tell you how to do things to receive it, we are different, no experience is the same as the other, but I can give you one piece of advice, music can sometimes reconnect with yourself, start from there. I have a playlist with songs that are helping me go in that state of mind, it's on "MacBook design" called study/meditate if you want to start from there but I will recommend making your playlist because only you know what suits you best. I hope you enjoyed this article and if you had that feeling or my advice helped you tell me, I enjoy reading your stories. See you next time!
