memories

They are alive when we are broken, they heal and bring back the happiness we once had, but at the same time, they hurt the most. It's crazy how we can fit so many stories in our brain, and how quickly they show up in the most unexpected moments.

Powerful emotions can bring back to life all sorts of memories. They can make us smile when we are in the deepest pit, but they can also tear us apart. Sometimes we associate memories with different things such as smells, sounds, songs, colors. So whenever you'll hear that song you used to listen to with your family, or when you'll smell the lavender in the spring your memories will come back to life as if you're living them at that moment. It could be a happy memory from your childhood or your teenage years, but whatever it is, in that particular moment, you're wandering in the realm of your mind, and if you're not cautious you may get lost and bump into a hurtful memory, that one memory you've kept hidden in the darkness. You see, the barrier between the realm of happiness and the painful one is fragile and if you cross it you might get lost.

Unfortunately, we as humans cross that barrier too often, we let our mind wander around and find some of the darkest and saddest memories we have. We hurt ourselves without knowing how much damage we do. And, in the end, we sink into the dippest ocean reaching for the surface.

You may ask "What's the solution then?" and the truth is I don't know. I want to believe that we are the masters of our minds, but sometimes it can defeat us. Don't take life for granted saying that you have time to make new memories, profit from the opportunities that come to you because we never know what's ahead. Even though life is hard, accept it as it is and move forward, don't let your fears control your life. Be happy, be safe!
